Gov’t convenes meeting to discuss ways to support businesses
As it is difficult to strive for zero cases, the National Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control has agreed to switch away from “Zero COVID-19” to safe and flexible adaptation to and effective management of the pandemic strategy.
The agreement was made at the National Steering Committee’s meeting with officials from 10,400 communes/wards/townships, 705 districts, and 63 cities and provinces nationwide, on September 25.

Addressing the meeting, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, head of the National Steering Committee, said that COVID-19 has been gradually put under control in most of the country, but still observing complicated developments.
PM Pham ordered subordinate levels to absolutely not be unwary, negligent or losing vigilance under any circumstances, either without the pandemic or with the pandemic under control.
At the same time, they must avoid the tendency of being panic, losing temper, losing courage, and taking extreme measures in case of fighting the pandemic.
He pointed out that testing must be carried out in high-risk areas according to the guidelines of the Ministry of Health, to isolate the outbreak at the smallest scale possible. Following the principle of prevention better than cure, an effective pandemic prevention will allow to save financial and material resources in the fight against the pandemic, as well as the life and health of Vietnamese people.
The Government chief emphasized that we can only win the fight against the pandemic if every grassroots official and every citizen are fully aware of their duties and responsibilities.
Pham also asked all localities to set up working group led by chairperson of the provincial/municipal People’s Committee to facilitate restoration of economic activities.
Last week, statistics showed that new infections reduced by 9.7 per cent to 72,236, while the death toll also fell 12.1 per cent compared to the previous week plus 16 localities have gone through 14 days without any new infection.
As of September 25, Viet Nam administered 37,583,248 doses of COVID-19 vaccines, with 30,027,703 people receiving first jab and 7,555,545 people getting fully vaccinated.
