EVN worked with the People's Committee of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province on the grid-connected (on-grid) electrification for Con Dao
On September 25, Mr. Nguyen Tai Anh – Vice President of Vietnam Electricity (EVN) held an online meeting with Mr. Le Ngoc Khanh - Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province on the investment implementation of the project of grid-connected electrification for Con Dao district and Vinh Chau - Con Dao 110kV transmission line.
The online meeting between leaders of EVN and People's Committee of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province on the morning of September 25
The legal basis for EVN to implement the investment in the grid-connected electrification project for Con Dao district is Document No. 419/TTg-KTTH dated 2 April 2021 and Notice No. 61/TB-VPCP dated 25 March 2021 of the Government Office.
The project is implemented in accordance with Resolution No. 29/2021 dated 28 July 2021 of the National Assembly on the medium-term public investment plan for the period 2021-2025 at the request of the Government. Accordingly, the project of grid-connected electrification for Con Dao district has a total investment cost of VND 4,800 billion financed by the central budget, of which the 5-year budget plan for the 2021-2025 period is expected to be more than VND2,526 billion.
EVN has assigned Power Project Management Board No.3 (EVNPMB 3) to carry out project investment procedures. It is expected that from Vinh Chau 220kV substation (Soc Trang), a 13km long overhead line will be built along the coast to Vinh Hai commune (Vinh Chau town, Soc Trang) and to the sea at the Soc Trang shoreline point.
From the Soc Trang shoreline point, a 14 km long overhead line will be built crossing the sea, using prestressed concrete pile foundations. From the termination point of the overhead line on the sea, the line will be connected to a submarine power cable (about 70km long) and go to the shoreline point at Ong Dung beach (Con Dao). From this shoreline point, an underground cable (about 6km long) will be built along the forest road and Phan Chu Trinh road (to avoid affecting the forest).
According to Mr. Le Ngoc Khanh - Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province, the demand for electricity in Con Dao district has increased rapidly due to the strong growth of tourism. Bringing electricity from the national grid to Con Dao simultaneously develops the marine economy and contributes to ensuring the national defense and security of the sea and islands. The Resolution of the Provincial Party Congress for the 2020-2025 term also sets this as the central and key task of the term.
