Pleiku 2 500kV substation has its capacity increased to 1,350MVA
At 1:50 a.m. on 29 December 2021, the Central Viet Nam Power Projects Management Board (CPMB) in collaboration with the relevant units successfully energized the AT1 500kV transformer of Pleiku 2 500kV substation from 450MVA to 900MVA, increasing the capacity of the substation to 1,350MVA.
The Pleiku 2 500kV substation increasing capacity project is implemented in the existing Pleiku 2 500kV substation (without the substation area expanding) in Ia Kenh commune, Pleiku city, Gia Lai province.
This is a special grade energy project, group B, with a total construction investment of nearly VND 437 billion, invested by the National Power Transmission Corporation, managed and operated by CPMB, and operation received by the Transmission Company 3.
The increasing capacity project has the scale to replace 2 existing 500kV - 450MVA transformers with 2 500kV - 900MVA transformers, in this period to increase the capacity of one transformer. The project is invested to replace synchronous equipment, suitable for the newly installed 500kV transformer scale.
The completion of AT1 capacity increasing is very important in meeting the capacity transmission demand of hydropower and renewable energy plants in the province and in the region; ensuring long-term stable and reliable power supply for socio-economic development. According to the plan, the capacity increase of the AT2 500kV transformer of the substation is expected to be completed in the fourth quarter of 2022.
