China resumes customs clearance of goods at Po Chai border gate
The resumption of customs clearance by China’s Guangxi at the Tan Thanh - Po Chai border gate will help the two sides release goods faster, meeting the goal of clearing the backlog of vehicles before the Lunar New Year.
The Ministry of Industry and Trade said on January 25 that the Government of Guangxi officially restored customs clearance at the Po Chai border gate in Pingxiang, or the Tan Thanh border gate in Vietnam’s northern province of Lang Son.
The Tan Thanh - Po Chai border gate is an important border gate for the export of agricultural products and fruit of Vietnam. In the immediate future, the two sides will deliver and receive vehicles on the border, drivers must wear protective clothing, gloves and masks according to regulations.
Earlier, aiming to consolidate and strengthen measures to prevent the COVID-19 epidemic, Guangxi temporarily suspended customs clearance of goods at Po Chai from December 18, 2021.
After a working trip at the border gates of Lang Son and Quang Ninh by Vietnamese Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hong Dien, Guangxi decided to restore customs clearance at the pair of border gates and coordinate with Vietnam to solve the current import and export congestion.
According to the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the decision is a positive and important move by Guangxi right before the 2nd meeting of the Vietnam - China Trade Facilitation Working Group, and the 1st session on the cooperation mechanism in solving congestion at Vietnam-China border gates under the direction of the Prime Ministers of the two countries in a phone call on January 13, 2022.
Thanks to the efforts of both sides, the number of vehicles waiting for export in Lang Son has decreased sharply in recent days. As of 8:00 a.m. on January 24, the total number of vehicles waiting at border gates in Lang Son was 355 vehicles, down nearly 4,000 vehicles from a month earlier
