Viet Nam recorded more than US$ 2-bn USD surplus in good trades with EU

In the first 7 months of 2021, the two-way trade volume between Vietnam and the EU reached 32.09 billion USD, up 17.42% over the same period in 2020 and equaling 8.56% of the total two-way trade volume of the country, down slightly from the proportion of 9.54% in the first 7 months of 2020.

The two-way trade volume between Viet Nam and the EU in July 2021 reached US$4.73 billion, an increase of 1.41% compared to June 2021 and an increase of 13. 03% compared to July 2020. Regarding trade balance, Viet Nam recorded a surplus of 2.03 billion USD with the EU, an increase of 15.25% compared to June 2021 and an increase of 3.13% compared to July 2020. Iron and steel exports continued to make a strong breakthrough, increasing by 77.89% compared to June 2021 and increasing by 3,087% over the same period in 2020.

Viet Nam saw a trade surplus of 2.03 billion USD to the EU, an increase of 15.25% compared to June 2021 and an increase of 3.13% compared to July 2020. From the beginning of the year to the end of July 2021, Viet Nam has an accumulated trade surplus of 13.02 billion USD of goods with the EU, an increase of 15.75% compared to the trade surplus of 7 months of 2020 and equal to 57.73% of Viet Nam's goods value exported to the EU market.

The Netherlands, Germany, Italy, and Belgium are the main export markets of Vietnamese goods. The items with the highest export turnover include phones and components, computers, electronic products, shoes of all kinds, machinery and equipment spare parts, and textiles. In July 2021, iron and steel exports continued to make a strong breakthrough, increasing by 77.89% compared to June 2021 and increasing by 3,087% compared to July 2020.

In the opposite direction, Viet Nam's goods imports from the EU market in July 2021 reached US$1.35 billion, down 6.98% compared to June 2021. The main products imported from the EU in the first 7 months of this year are: machinery and equipment, spare parts, pharmaceuticals, chemical products, animal feed, textile raw materials... Major import markets of Viet Nam include Ireland, Germany, Italy, France, and the Netherlands.
